It’s humbling and it’s good.

Can we please take a moment of sweet appreciation for @jimmybrower_ & @damien_merino’s beautiful living room (the beautiful humans behind @westperro 🥰)? The light is rad and the plants and the everything, but what I love the most is that it’s filled with meaningful pieces. That’s a kick I’ve been on in outfitting our new home on wheels: keeping the things that were made lovingly by humans I love and respect, either from afar or in person. The pieces I treasure and that serve to remind me of beautiful things. Bravo, pals, for curating a sweet, meaningful space 👏🏼 I’m taking notes.
“The sun continues to rise & the creek dances” This is new language for us, as we’re steeping ourselves in a slightly different existence — a more “elemental” life, as Barbara Brown Taylor puts it. Being a little closer to nature is bringing about new work that I’m excited to explore.

This lovely situation is from @vacilandoquilting ‘s airstream studio nook. Although we won’t be on the move like she is, she’s been a big inspiration in our tiny home transition of renovating and living creatively in a 35 ft motorhome. Do yourself a favor and take in the beauty of her craft and the tiny home-nomadic lifestyle her and her husband lead. It’s beautiful. We had to severely downsize our life, but you best believe that a quilted pillow of hers made the cut. It’s a thing of beauty! It is made with such thoughtfulness and is the sweetest addition to our couch! Pictures to come soon ⚡️ (@creativehabitation)
Bird’s-eye perspective at some shape play this morn.
Shapes and granite. A juxtaposition of smooth brass and jagged rock. There is intricately marbled granite littered around the property in which I live. Like the earth threw a party and the confetti can be found everywhere. This is such a strange and beautiful season we’re in. The thing that keeps showing up for me is this: growth is typically found in the rub of life for me; the challenge, the uncomfortable and even the insecure. My biggest ah-ha moments of creativity are when I’m limited in some way. Because it’s there that I’ve found something bigger than myself helping to move me forward, I know gratitude turns everything into enough, and I realize I have a choice. What will I do with this circumstance? What will I do with these shapes and this beautiful land in which I find myself? I will say “thank you” and start taking pictures - that’s what I’ll do.

Let me tell you about this season of creative life: it’s blasted hard and incredibly beautiful. Pure bliss and so much challenge. It’s this and it’s that. I’m experiencing full-on that life can hold two extremes. The above pictures hold two reminders for me: the loss of my beautiful studio that you all grew to know and love, but also a rad new communal space that has tools and equipment at my disposal. A new season full of many learning curves, but more importantly, a chance to grow myself and my craft in a rad place such as @hackerlab. This massive space is a dream and I’m stoked to be a part of the community. Btw - you best believe some huggggge mobiles are being made with those supa high ceilings 🙌🏼
When your pal @jackipotorke takes one of your favorite family photos to date, ya post it. A jumble of sentences about me: I live in Northern California with my little family & we love to be outside. Hiking and moving my bones is my happy place! We just started a journey of tiny home living in a motorhome up on my brother and sister’s property (@creativehabitation). We’re in the middle of making it a home. I love to create spaces that bring calm & comfort and that’s what I aim to do with this space. We’re stoked to host friends and family at our little homestead in the woods— our prayer is that it’s a place of rest and joy for others. I live for river swim days and now have access to a river spot a mile away (friends, get ready). I believe in a greater force of love that is in the business of renewal and life, despite this messed up world we live in. Community is huge for me and I’m always learning what it looks like to be a functioning part of one. I definitely fall into the enneagram 2 category. I have felt empowered in learning about myself and others through it —it’s a really rad tool for self-discovery and learning how people function around you. I love my house plants. Can wood grain be classified as a favorite color? I believe gratitude is the ultimate game changer and aim to mark my life by it. Coming at life with gratefulness has changed everything for me. I hope to be a lifelong learner - always striving for growth, and failure and more growth. I love to work with my hands. I’m just here showing up the best I can. Nice to meet ya 💛
One of my favorite pieces recently. Lately I’ve been grabbing brass and letting my hands discover what will come of them. This was the case with this one. For a while now I’ve been contemplating doing ‘challenges’ on here where I have a set amount of shapes in front of me and I’m left to create something from them, a la @niknikstudio and her gorgeous work. More of this in this new season of making!
This is our first official week of working out of @hackerlab ‘s new maker space! Guys, it’s so rad. It will be the perfect place to get pieces done while we’re getting settled in our new way of life. Eventually we plan to build out a trailer studio, but for this time, it’s absolutely golden. Stoked to get your orders done this week! There are still some made-to-order listings available in my shop, if you’ve been looking to get a piece of your own.
